On September 18 at 8:08 pm, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Hefei, Anhui Province, with a focal depth of 12 kilometres.

Surveillance footage from a resident's home showed that during the earthquake, a disabled grandmother was walking in the living room with the aid of a crutch. Upon sensing the tremor, her grandson's first instinct was to help her. He immediately rushed over, lifted her up, and carried her outside to safety.

The child's mother later remarked that she wasn't home at the time, but after seeing the footage, she was deeply moved, realising how much her son had grown up.
