On September 18, a fire broke out in a shop in Gurao Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, trapping several people inside.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was intense, with flames concentrated on the first floor and thick black smoke rising upwards. Many trapped individuals fled to the rooftop, while others called for help from windows.

Volunteers brought in three large cranes for rescue before firefighters arrived. Using fire trucks equipped with aerial ladders and regular ladders, the firefighters successfully rescued the trapped individuals. One mother, while evacuating with her child, even made sure to grab baby formula.

In the afternoon, the Shantou Fire and Rescue Department released a statement confirming the incident. They had received a call at 11:50 am reporting the fire in a store near Zhongxin Bridge in Gurao Town. The fire department quickly dispatched forces to the scene, and by 1:20 pm, the flames were extinguished. Ten people were evacuated, with one person injured and taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
