What started as a routine day for the Belle Fourche Police Department quickly turned into an impromptu cattle drive on September 19th, as a herd of cows made an unanticipated bid for freedom at the intersection of 34th Street and Highway 85.

The bovine breakout led to a chase that took officers on a tour through some of Belle Fourche's landmarks, including the Moose Lodge, a local trailer court, the Christian Life Center, and even past Monument Health. The escapade, while unexpected, was met with a swift and coordinated response by local law enforcement, demonstrating their adaptability and community spirit.

Officer Clint from Animal Control, alongside Officers Stephen and Alex, took charge, turning the day's events into a communal effort to corral the errant cows. The assistance of local resident Trish, who not only provided her corral but also lent her equestrian skills, was pivotal in bringing this unconventional police operation to a safe end.

The Belle Fourche Vet Clinic also played a crucial role, ensuring all animals were unharmed during the ordeal, which concluded with the cows being safely penned at a corral on Willow Creek Road.
