Two-headed cow nursed by villagers in India
A two-headed calf that was born in India is being nursed by kind-hearted villagers.
Footage shows locals bottle-feeding a newborn cow at Bhucho Mandi cowshed in Bathinda district, Punjab on September 20.
The unique calf has two sets of eyes, two noses, and two mouths but shares the upper part of its skull. Its head is connected to a single neck.
A cowshed worker said that the animal is healthy and drinks milk from both mouths.
Neighbours and residents from nearby villages have flocked to see the cow, with some making offerings.
The calf has a condition called polycephaly. This rare condition happens when an animal is born with two heads, possibly due to incomplete splitting of the embryo or fusion of two embryos.
It can happen in various animals, including cows, and often leads to complications in their development and survival.
