Two elephants go berserk, break through barricades at Mysuru Palace
Tension gripped the Mysore Palace grounds when two Dasara elephants, Kanjan and Dhananjaya, clashed during feeding time. Dhananjaya's aggressive behavior caused Kanjan to break out of the palace grounds, sparking panic among onlookers.
In the ensuing chaos, Dhananjaya chased Kanjan, who fled without his mahout (a person who works with, rides, and tends an elephant). The elephants pushed through barricades at both the Jayamarthanda Gate and the entrance to Someshwara Temple, eventually reaching the road near Doddakere Maidan.
With the intervention of the mahouts and palace staff, a major accident was averted. The elephants were brought under control and safely returned to the palace premises.
