Azerbaijan: Dangerous Ordnance Discovered in Kürdəxanı, Immediate Response by Emergency Services
Baku, Azerbaijan - September 23, 2024
In a startling development, the "112" hotline of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report regarding the discovery of ordnance in the Kürdəxanı settlement of Sabuncu district, Baku city. According to a report by Oxu.Az, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MEH) promptly responded to the incident.
Upon receiving the alert, the Special Risk Rescue Service (SRSS) of the MEH dispatched its rapid demining unit to the scene. Collaborating with law enforcement, the team implemented necessary safety measures before inspecting the area. The investigation revealed that the ordnance was a combat-ready 40mm "PQ-7L" brand anti-tank cumulative unguided rocket projectile.
The ordnance was carefully removed from the site by the SRSS specialists for neutralization, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. Subsequent searches in and around the incident location did not uncover any additional hazardous or suspicious items.
