A curious seal watched on as a man proposed to his wife at St Louis Zoo. He said: "My fiance and I are regular visitors of the Saint Louis Zoo. Earlier this year I discovered that one of the sea lions, Nova, was very eager to play through the glass.

"Ever since then, she recognises me when I come in! The morning of this video, my then-boyfriend told me he wasn’t going to be able to make it on our planned zoo trip. In reality, he was waiting for our friend Patrick to pick me up so he could surprise me with a proposal at the zoo!

"He says he wanted me to have my main character moment. My friend Betsy who was with me that day, and who is also Patrick’s fiance, was texting Ryan our location so he'd know when we were in the right spot."
