STORYLINE:

Lebanon announced on Tuesday measures to shelter 27,000 displaced people from southern Lebanon and suspension of educational activities until the end of the week due to ongoing Israeli raids.
   
The 27,000 displaced were seeking refuge in 252 shelters.

The country has suspended educational activities until the end of this week while demanding that public schools be opened to receive the displaced.

"I am now at a school in Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. At least 10,000 people have become homeless and have come to Beirut, and 150 schools have been used as temporary shelters. The school behind me is one of them. I just entered the school. The classrooms have been emptied, and each classroom is assigned to a homeless family. Many volunteers took the initiative to come to the school to undertake various tasks."

Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging fire across the Lebanon-Israel border since Oct. 8, 2023.
   
On Monday, Israel began its most extensive bombardment of Lebanon since 2006, resulting in more than 550 deaths, including civilians, and over 1,800 injuries across the country.
