Good Samaritans climbed across a roof to save an injured mother cat and her kittens.

The locals spotted the moggy from the window of a resident's home, looking weak with its litter in Rizal province, the Philippines on September 20.

They then asked a neighbour to let them pass through their balcony to access the moggies and evacuate them to safety.

Footage shows the animal lovers walking on the structure to reach the felines that nested on the edge of a home's roof.

One of the rescuers Mylha Tungul said: ‘We believe the mother cat was poisioned. We took her and the kittens with us but only four survived. The smallest one died due to the weather.'

The cat family was adopted by Mylha and were taken to the vets for a health check.

The Philippines is one of the world's top countries in terms of cat ownership. A survey by Japanese tech firm Rakuten in 2021 found that 43 per cent of Filipinos own a feline, making it the second highest in cat ownership in Asia after Thailand.
