Nairobi, Kenya - September 25, 2024

Activists and families of those affected by recent anti-government protests were granted a meeting at Harambee House with the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Office of the President. During the meeting, they presented a list of 60 Kenyans who were killed in the protests and 14 others who remain missing. Outside, journalists covering the event sustained injuries, with some having their equipment damaged in the commotion. One journalist reported that a police officer forcibly took their camera and kicked it, leaving it unusable.

Families of the victims are now urging President William Ruto to take immediate action. Mary Wanu, who has been searching for her son for over two months, has visited hospitals, morgues, and prisons without any success.

Activists have threatened to return to the streets if the government fails to address police brutality during the protests, stating they will follow up within seven days. They stressed that Kenyans should not continue to be killed by the very bullets they fund through their taxes.
