STORYLINE:
Displaced Sudanese who have returned to Omdurman, north of the capital city of Khartoum, say that they are suffering from indiscriminate shelling, lack of necessities of life, and the spread of diseases.

"We lack a lot of services. We lack health services, we lack livelihood requirements and we lack food materials, including vegetables, meat, and dairy products. I mean, we need necessities of life."
Due to the recent heavy rains and flooding, Omdurman is now plagued with diseases including cholera, malaria, dengue fever, and eye infections.

"The environmental problem is the biggest problem. There are mosquitoes and insects which cause several diseases. Most of the residents here are infected with malaria and skin diseases. People have returned to Omdurman, but there is fear of diseases. There are no hospitals here, while the available ones are far to reach."

"A large number of citizens have returned to Omdurman, but there is a shortage in food and food centers. However, it is clear that people continue to return to Omdurman despite these difficulties."
Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in a violent conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. This conflict has resulted in at least 16,650 deaths and the displacement of millions of people, according to UN estimates.
