This is the moment police spotted a lorry tilting dangerously, with its cargo throwing it off balance.

Footage from the Brazilian Federal Highway Police shows the truck, with its driver seemingly unaware that it was tilted precariously to one side, threatening to flip over on September 18.

The police activated their siren and began to overtake the lorry, forcing it to pull over on the BR-101 in Barra Velha, in northern Santa Catarina.

Local media reports indicated that the lorry was transporting boxes of vegetables from Sao Paulo to Greater Florianopolis.

Astonishingly, the driver told the police that he was aware of the situation but did not take any action because he was driving slowly and believed this would prevent his cargo from flipping the lorry over.

The driver, who has not been named, was fined 195 BRL (26.71 GBP) and was instructed to transfer part of his cargo to another vehicle before being allowed to continue on his way.
