Loose tyre detaches and rolls towards customers outside shop
A pickup truck's tyre detached and rolled towards customers at the front of a shop.
CCTV footage shows the white vehicle slowing down before its rear tyre bounced along the road in Chachoengsao, Thailand on September 20.
The object narrowly hit a three-wheeled motorbike on the opposite lane before it headed towards the roadside restaurant.
It was avoided by the motorcycle riders and the customers who fled from its path before hitting the wall and halting.
The restaurant owner said: ‘We heard a commotion outside and checked. We saw the car wheel rolling and hitting the sign.;
She added the driver apologised and told them the tyre was recently repaired.
She said: ‘The car's owner told us the mechanic probably did not screw them tightly.'
No one was hurt, and the car was towed back to the repair shop.
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
