Moment cyclist collides with cow on trail in Austria
This is the moment a cyclist tried to do an emergency stop - before colliding with a cow.
Mike Burgbacher, 23, from Germany, was enjoying a vacation in Sölden, Austria, on August 9, 2022, when the unexpected encounter occurred.
He said "My friend and I were riding down the track as usual when suddenly a cow was just standing right in front of us."
"My friend pushed the cow to the side, trying to stop me from hitting it, but I still ended up colliding with it." "
Fortunately, both rider and cow escaped injury.
Mike said "We stopped to check on the cow, but she just kept eating, completely unimpressed by what had happened." "
Mike and his friend inspected their bikes and found no damage, though the close call left a lasting impression.
He said "I've never had such a fall in my life, and I hope it never happens again. "
"It's dangerous because these tracks are built for speed and jumps, and having cows wander onto them can be risky." "
Despite the incident, Mike was thrilled to be biking in Austria, which he describes as having "many great bike parks, more than in Germany."
Currently working as a tractor mechanic, Mike has aspirations to make biking his profession in the future.
