In a somber chapter for North Fort Myers, Sheriff Carmine Marceno reported the arrest of 80-year-old Richard Scharf for the murder of a woman, in what Scharf claimed was an act to end her suffering. Deputies were dispatched to a home on Kaidon Lane following a distress call from neighbors. En route, they learned of the grim scenario: a man had allegedly killed a woman and was contemplating taking his own life.
