This is the heart-stopping moment a car crashes into a pole while trying to avoid hitting a child on a scooter on his way to the play park.

The incident occurred in a residential area on Alexander Nevsky Avenue in Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, Russia, on September 19.

Footage shows a boy on a scooter waiting on the side of the road for a gap in the traffic flow to cross. However, the video reveals that this area is not designated for crossing; there are no zebra crossings or signs.

After letting a few cars pass, the boy pushes off and rides his scooter onto the road.

At that moment, the car drives towards the boy at full speed. The driver reacts instantly, swerving the car to avoid hitting the boy, and crashes into a street lamp post stuck between it and a tree.

The boy, terrified by the near-miss, falls off his scooter and tries to run away.

But the driver and the passenger exited the car, stopped the boy, and forced him to stay with them until further circumstances were clarified.

Currently, there is no information regarding the damage to the car or whether there were any repercussions for the boy and his parents.
