A female driver was arrested for an alleged hit-and-run involving a Sheriff's Deputy in a car park incident.

Footage shows Aran Baker allegedly striking Deputy Bruce Fowler outside the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Fort Myers, Florida, on September 23.

As Deputy Fowler approached Baker he reportedly noticed her exhibiting erratic behaviour and sensed danger so he stepped back to call for support.

In a sudden move, Baker allegedly accelerated in reverse, striking the deputy and fleeing the scene.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno expressed outrage, highlighting the vulnerability of law enforcement in secure environments.

Baker was arrested shortly after in a store off Daniels Parkway and resisted arrest, leading to additional charges of Resisting an Officer Without Violence and Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Deputy Fowler is recovering at home, with Sheriff Marceno prioritising his recovery.
