A freediver held her breath for a minute while swimming 65ft (20metres) deep in the ocean.

Footage shows the professional mermaid Doherty Katkat Medes descending to the ocean floor before pulling herself up a rope in Batangas, the Philippines on June 1.

Freediving is an underwater diving activity in which a diver holds their breath instead of using breathing apparatus like scuba tanks. The goal is to explore the underwater environment, hunt, or engage in competitive sports by relying solely on a single breath of air.

It can involve depths ranging from a few meters to over 100 meters, depending on the diver's skill and experience.
