CHP, Bakersfield Police Department, and Shafter PD responded to reports of a traffic collision with a possible ejection. Upon arrival, officers were informed it wasn't a collision with ejection but instead, a pedestrian that had been struck with major injuries.
For Immediate Release September 26th, 2024PRESS RELEASE:On September 26, 2024, at 00:05 AM, Bakersfield Police Department officers weredispatched to the 32000 block of 7th Standard Road regarding a traffic collision. Uponarrival, they located an adult male in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Medicalaid responded to the scene and pronounced the individual deceased.The investigation determined the decedent had been pushing his disabled vehicle inthe roadway when he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling eastbound. Thedriver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with theinvestigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim on a later date.The investigation is ongoing.
