Bangladesh fan attacked during test match with India
A Bangladeshi cricket fan was allegedly attacked during a test match against India.
Footage shows 'Tiger Robi,' dressed in a tiger costume representing the Bangladesh cricket team, receiving medical attention during the second Test match in Kanpur on September 27.
The passionate fan from Dhaka was reportedly assaulted and harassed by onlookers at Green Park Stadium.
Local police said they intervened and escorted Robi to the hospital for medical care.
Before the incident, he was seen enthusiastically chanting and waving the national flag from the C Block balcony.
Tensions reportedly escalated during the first session when Robi became involved in a dispute with other fans. Security staff quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation.
Despite this, Robi alleged that bystanders physically assaulted him during lunch. The police said they would review the official CCTV footage to investigate his claims.
A police source revealed that an officer found Robi struggling to breathe near the C Block entrance, indicating a distressing turn of events.
Robi later released a video message denying the assault charges, explaining that he was in pain due to an illness.
He said: 'I was not feeling well. Police took me to the hospital, where I was given treatment. Now, I have recovered to a great extent.'
Kanpur Police confirmed that Tiger Robi, who is in India on a medical visa, has been undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.
Authorities said the fan suffered from dehydration and was taken to the hospital, where he was reported to be fine.
The second Test match between India and Bangladesh was called off on Day 1 due to rain.
