Eleven sea walls collapsed as storms batter Mumbai, India.
The city recorded at least 11 incidents of coastal defence barriers caving in on Friday, September 27, following continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms in the region.
Local media reported that there were no injuries.
Mumbai received heavy downpours on Wednesday and Thursday, and an orange alert was issued for Friday.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Saturday morning that the city recorded 43.68 mm of rainfall, while the western suburbs saw 44.67 mm and the eastern suburbs received 47.07 mm.
Officials said the total rainfall has surpassed the city's annual average.
Authorities also reported tree branches falling on a taxi, injuring three locals, along with 11 short circuits.
