Terrifying moment paraglider breaks back after plummeting to ground, incident captured by fellow pilot
This is the terrifying moment a paraglider broke his back after a fault in his wing, seeing him rapidly plummet to the ground in Dorset, UK.
Robin Wallace was in the air at the time of the incident and managed to capture it on camera as fellow pilot Chris Smith crashed.
The filmer told Newsflare: "At a popular paragliding site in Dorset a pilot gets a collapse in his wing and plummets 20 feet to the ground, he is injured. There are several other pilots in the air and on the ground who are in walkie-talkie radio contact that is recorded. Also the injured pilot is heard on the radios.
"The video shows the reaction to the crash and the handling of the incident involving getting quickly and safely down to the ground to help the pilot and organising ambulance and helicopter rescue.
"The pilot involved has approved publishing the events in the hope that sharing it will be educational.
"The pilot did have two broken vertebrae but so stable that he was released from hospital the next day and has recovered well since then."
