Chonky cat called 'Crumbs' loses second kilo after month at diet centre
A chonky cat called 'Crumbs' has lost two kilos after a month at a diet centre.
The 17-kilogramme feline, known as 'Kroshik' in Russian for his ability to hoover up food, has shed his second kilo at a fat camp.
The chubby feline was rescued from the basement of a hospital in Perm, Russia, where he was constantly fed biscuits and soup.
He was taken in by specialists at a veterinary diet centre who dedicated themselves to helping him shed off the incredible bulk.
Kroshik was so overweight when rescuers found him that he could barely walk. But after a month of diet and physical therapy, he was able to lose nearly 12 per cent of his initial weight, as shared by vets on Wednesday, September 25.
Authorities said that this is a significant result for cats.
In a video of the recent weighing, Kroshik appears stubborn and growls in discontent.
But his medics say they are starting to bond, as another video shows Kroshik loudly purring while being petted by staff.
The clinic said: 'We continue the cat's recovery journey at the DogMas rehabilitation centre.
'Just recently, little Kroshik's heart began to melt, and we heard the baby's first purr.
'Kroshik is still very scared and struggling to go through all the treatments necessary to restore his health.
'But thanks to the power of your endless love, the cat feels that he is not alone!
'Now, he is finally being loved with pure and bright love, where he is surrounded by support, rather than being overfed to the point where he cannot move.'
