A stranded cow was rescued from a septic tank in India.

The animal fell and became stuck inside the pit in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, on September 25.

Footage shows members of the Atal Kamdhenu Gau Sewa Sansthan operating a bucket excavator to dig the soil and retrieve the bovine using a rope.

Moments later, the cow was safely pulled out and checked for any injuries.

The rescue group which saved the cow, Atal Kamdhenu Gau Sewa Sansthan, was founded by Deepak Upadhyay and Guru Prabhakar Mishra in 2017. They said thei mission is to provide a safe space for abused animals and offer treatment.
