A rescue team's kayak capsized as they rowed across a flooded neighbourhood following heavy rain.

The volunteers were on a relief mission onboard a blue plastic vessel which tilted from uneven weight as they rowed in Lampang province, Thailand on September 27.

Footage shows the three men swaying with the boat before they submerged into the water. The rescuers wore orange inflatable vests so they floated on the deluge.

Resident Phiphat Tempiang said: 'The rescue boat capsized while on their way to help my neighbours in Sop Prap District.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
