A dad arranges for the neighbourhood to unite to play ball games outside his home so his son with Down syndrome can connect with his peers through sport.

Devon DowDell, 47, started setting up the games on weekends when he noticed son Jack, 14, was great at kicking.

He realised it was a way for the teen to enjoy a sport alongside his neighborhood friends.

Now the regularly come together outside Jack's home to play a game where the teen kicks a ball into a bucket on the other side of the road.

And they all go on a trip to get a Slurpee afterwards.

Devon from South Jordan, Utah, said "Jack's motor skills are a little slower than his typical peers, so it's hard to find something he can fully participate in."

"But he's really good at kicking the ball, so I created this game just for him." "

The game became an instant hit with Jack's friends, who cheer him on as he kicks the ball.

Devon said "He loves hearing them chant, ‘Jack, Jack, Jack—kick it!' "

"It's given him the chance to play and bond with his friends in ways he normally wouldn't be able to." "

Aside from kickball, he loves basketball, swimming, and hanging out with his friends.

The post-game tradition of going for Slurpees is one of his favorite parts of the day.

Devon said "After the game, Jack cranks up the music in the car on the way to get Slurpees – "He loves Slurpees just as much as he loves kickball."

Jack's vibrant personality has also made him a social media star, boasting 100,000 YouTube subscribers and over 185,000 TikTok followers.

Devon said "When he was younger, I knew he had something special about him."

"Fast forward 10 years, and he's touching so many hearts online."

"When you have a child with special needs, it's one of your worst fears that they won't be included."

But watching Jack play with his friends and seeing them come back the next day asking if we're playing again is the best in the world." "

"It's incredibly fulfilling as a parent to watch Jack being accepted and having fun with his friends."
