The Israeli military started what it called "limited, localized, and targeted ground raids" against Hezbollah targets in the border area of southern Lebanon on Monday night according to a statement released by the Israeli Defense Forces on Tuesday.

The statement said the Hazbollah targets are located in villages close to the border and pose immediate threat to the communities in northern Israel.

The Israeli forces operated according to the plan set out by the General Staff and the Northern Command, said the statement, adding that Israeli soldiers have trained and prepared for the offensive in recent months.

It further stated that Israeli air force and artillery supported the ground forces with precise strikes.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah released three statements saying they hit targets after conducting bombardments and rockets attacks against Israeli soldiers in northern Israeli or near the temporary Lebanon-Israel border line.

In addition, Hezbollah stated that they used missiles, rockets, and various weapons to conduct 12 rounds of attacks targeting Israeli military bases, assembly points, and settlements on Monday.
