This is the dramatic moment a helicopter saved an elderly hiker after a fall on the Oregon coast.

The U.S. Coast Guard conducted an aerial rescue operation for the 74-year-old man in Brookings on September 29.

The victim reportedly suffered injuries after slipping from a bridge into a creek bed.

Footage shows the pilot manoeuvring the aircraft to the location of the man.

Moments later, they found the pensioner and hoisted him to the vehicle, safely transporting him to Del Norte County Airport in Crescent City, California, where he was handed over to medical personnel for treatment.

The hiker was reported to be conscious and communicative at the time of the rescue.
