A brave mother hugged her daughter as they fled from a crumbling building in India.

CCTV footage shows the mum, Khushi Arora, carrying her two-year-old child as she rushed away from falling debris along with a neighbour from across the street in Punjab on October 1.

Khushi and the toddler were buried under rubble but were later rescued and taken to the hospital.

They sustained injuries and are being treated by medics.

Residents told authorities that the structure was estimated to be 100 years old, and despite reporting issues, they claimed the owner did not work on repairs.

Municipal commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said: ‘We will take steps to identify and address the issue of unsafe buildings to prevent incidents like this in the future.'
