A boat fanatic makes remote-controlled models of warships in his backyard.

Footage shows Carlo Bermundo using super glue to stick detailed parts to a wooden miniature vessel in Albay province, the Philippines.

Aside from military boats, he said he also creates replicas of ferries and cargo ships, often commissioned by its captain and crew as memorabilia.

He said: ‘I make them all from scratch. It is my main source of income, and I use it to provide for my family.

‘I am also working on a mechanism to control them remotely.'

Carlo added he recently received an order from a Philippine Coast Guard officer to create a model of BRP Teresa Magbanua, a class-patrol vessel deployed last month to move to the disputed territory of Escoda Shoal.

He said: ‘I am happy to make warships for my country, even if they are miniature models.'
