An exhausted sea turtle was rescued from a beach and taken to a Thai wildlife centre for rehabilitation.

The juvenile green sea turtle was spotted by locals and called officers from the Thung Thale Wildlife Sanctuary to assist in Krabi province, Thailand on October 4.

Footage shows the reptile being sprayed with water and cleaned by a caretaker at the Thung Thale Crab Breeding Centre, where it will stay until it regains its strength.

One of the Good Samaritans said the marine animal was disoriented and wandered outside the conservation project facility when it was found.

One of the rescuers, Offer Suksai, said: 'Officers from the Thung Thale Wildlife Sanctuary went to inspect and found the baby turtle without wounds. It was exhausted, probably swept away by the waves.'

The green sea turtle is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to habitat loss, alterations in temperature affecting nesting beaches, accidental capture, illegal harvesting, and ingestion of trash, particularly plastic waste.
