The National Guard provided relief to areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Thousands of personnel from various states were deployed for search and rescue operations and transporting and distributing vital supplies to affected residents in the Gulf Coast region as of Tuesday, October 1.

Helicopters, high-water vehicles, and boats were extensively utilized to evacuate locals stranded by the flooding.

Guard engineers worked to clear significant roadways of debris, ensuring that aid could reach isolated communities and medical emergencies could be addressed promptly.

Hurricane Helene landed on September 26 and has claimed more than 100 lives and caused extensive damage to roads and bridges, resulting in severe flooding from Florida to Virginia.

Authorities stated that damage estimates ranged from 15 billion USD to more than 100 billion USD as water systems, communications, and critical transportation routes were affected.
