This is the heartwarming moment a stranded panda cub was rescued by its doting mother.

The 14-month-old bear named Katyusha was playing with her mother, Ding Ding, in their enclosure at Russia's Moscow Zoo on October 1 when she flopped over a bar and could not get back up.

Footage shows her patient mother clamping one hefty paw on Katyusha's back to stop her from sliding off headfirst onto the ground.

When the playful youngster still can't pull herself back up, Ding Ding clamps her teeth around the fur of one of her legs and heaves her back up.

Eventually, Katyusha walks around safely and stands upright while her mother pretends to ambush her from behind.

After a playful scuffle, Ding Ding again helps her cub scramble awkwardly back to the top of the climbing frame as the footage ends.

Katyusha, the first giant panda cub born in Russia, has become the zoo's new online camera access star.

During zoo opening hours, fans can visit the zoo's website, mos.ru, and watch favourites like Katyusha, orangutans, gorillas, and adorable Pallas's cats.

Infotech deputy head Boris Frolov said: 'An interactive format like this allows you to learn more about wild animals and observe their behaviour in an environment close to natural conditions.'

Zoo general director Svetlana Akulova added: 'The broadcasts will make education even more accessible to tens of thousands of visitors to the site not only from Moscow, but also from other cities of our vast country.'
