This is the tense moment when an elk runs out onto the highway and slips in a panic as cars approach and yet somehow still manages to avoid being struck by a vehicle.

The incident occurred on Primorskoe Highway, at the entrance to Lisy Nos, St. Petersburg, Russia in the late evening on 29th September.
The dashcam video shows a driver moving along a road illuminated by night lights and surrounded by trees on both sides.

Suddenly, from the left side, an elk unexpectedly appears from behind the trees and walks towards the roadway, trying to cross the road.
The driver filming notices the elk in time and slows down, but the car on the right doesn't notice it and makes a sharp turn at the last minute.
The frightened elk slips and falls, but thanks to the turn of the car, a collision between the two does not occur.

The elk rises to its hooves and slowly walks back, disappearing into the thicket of trees that it originated from.

It is reported that the elk decided to cross the road near the Northern Coast of the Neva Bay nature reserve, where he probably lives.
