Gold bars recovered from mobile battery slot at northern India airport
In a surprising incident in northern India's Delhi, customs officials recovered two gold bars concealed inside a mobile phone.
The incident took place in Indira Gandhi International Airport of New Delhi district on September 30.
Visuals showed airport authorities removing a phone’s battery compartment, revealing two gold bars hidden in place of the actual battery. The bars weighed approximately 200 grams.
According to reports, based on intelligence, a passenger traveling from Dammam to Delhi was intercepted by Customs officials at the airport. The gold bars were discovered inside the battery slot of the passenger’s phone, and further investigation is ongoing.
