A tattoo enthusiast underwent an excruciating procedure to have ink injected into his eyeball.

Footage shows the fanatic, CJ Bordaje, lying in a clinic bed as his artist friend Kyle Jumaoas and assistant used a needle to colour his eye in Cebu, the Philippines.

Tattoo artist Kyle wiped tears and excess ink around CJ's right eye, which had its white parts turned black after the session.

Kyle said: ‘He said it was painful at first but tolerable. My friend became more confident after that as everyone looks at him.'

An eyeball tattoo, or scleral tattoo, involves injecting ink into the white part of the eye, known as the sclera, using a small needle. The ink is inserted between the conjunctiva and the sclera, where it spreads out and stains the eye.

This procedure is risky and can lead to complications such as infection, blindness, or permanent damage if done incorrectly. It is typically performed by specialised tattoo artists rather than medical professionals, though it is not recommended due to the potential dangers.
