Cement truck plunges into sinkhole outside pizza shop
This is the dramatic moment a cement truck plunged into a sinkhole in front of a pizza shop.
The six-wheeler carrying a heavy mixer at the back slowly travelled through the one-way road between shops when the ground collapsed in Pathum Thani, Thailand on October 3.
CCTV footage shows the Nissan UD vehicle fell into the hole as the concrete road caved in.
The four wheels at the back that supported the cement mixer's weight fell through the sinkhole and flipped to its side.
Rangsit Municipality Police Captain Trelup Toopgrajank said: ‘We arrived at the scene with patrol officers from Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station and city law enforcement officers.
‘We closed off the area to prevent further accidents and did an inspection.'
The driver was unhurt but the water and drain pipes were damaged.
The said captain added it was a one-way road but the truck was counterflowing.
He added: ‘The driver violated a traffic sign and the truck's weight caused the road to collapse. It had been previously closed off for repairs.'
Authorities are now assessing the extent of damage as the pipes were estimated to be 20 years old.
A crane truck also arrived at the scene to tow the vehicle from the scene.
