Tortoise and hare race in real-life version of the fable
This is the amusing moment a tortoise and a hare raced in a real-life version of the fable.
The tortoise continuously ambled along while its rabbit opponent paused mid-race with onlookers cheering for it to move forward at a farm in Beijing, China, on September 30.
Footage shows spectators urging the furry creature to hop, but it appeared too distracted, resting on the ground instead.
In the end, the tortoise won the entertaining race, drawing cheers from the audience, while the bi-coloured rabbit lay on the grass, sniffing around.
The event brought Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and the Hare, to life, where despite being born with agility and speed, hares can still lose due to distraction. The fable teaches people to do things slowly and steadily rather than acting quickly and carelessly in life to be successful.
