Footage shows Typhoon Krathon lashing through an island in the northern Philippines before leaving a trail of destruction in Batanes province on September 30.

Krathon, locally named Julian, brought torrential winds and heavy rains that damaged properties and felled trees.

Locals stayed inside their homes as the bad weather ripped through outside.

The typhoon's aftermath left fallen trees blocking roads and damaged homes.

Krathon devastated the northern part of the country, triggering landslides and flooding that killed five people.

It then headed to Taiwan's port city of Kaohsiung, where it made landfall, killing two people and thousands evacuated.

It has since weakened into a tropical depression and is expected to move towards China.
