Dandridge, United States - October 04, 2024

In response to recent heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has taken decisive action to manage the environmental fallout at Douglas Lake. The area has seen an influx of debris following the severe weather, posing risks to both navigation and ecological health.

TVA officials announced the installation of a one-mile-wide containment boom near Dandridge, Tennessee. This strategic placement aims to corral both floating and submerged debris, preventing further spread and facilitating its eventual removal from the lake.

The initiative reflects TVA's commitment to restoring the lake's conditions post-flooding, ensuring safety for local residents and protecting the lake's biodiversity. "This measure is crucial for containing the debris until we can coordinate with our partners for its safe and effective removal," stated a TVA spokesperson.
