STORYLINE:
The 4th Women's Film Salon of Cote d'Ivoire concluded in Abidjan on Friday.
The theme of the two-day event was "Industrialization of Ivorian cinema, how to create its market?"
The salon aimed to highlight the talents of women in the management, production, practice and promotion of African film industrialization.
SOUNDBITE 1 (French): SALMA KHALIL, Chadian director
"I'm very excited and happy to be part of this event. As we all know, the film salon serves as a gathering for experienced film professionals from various fields."
SOUNDBITE 2 (French): NAMEHIKA TOURE, Film producer and director
"I'm optimistic about the future of African cinema. I hope that our films will gain recognition from broader audiences. Though we have produced many films, they are not receiving sufficient attention from viewers. I hope that films can become a significant source of employment, allowing industry professionals to sustain their livelihoods."
SOUNDBITE 3 (French): RITA AMBEU, Promoter of Women's Film Salon of Cote d'Ivoire
"The Women's Film Salon aims to create jobs, professionalize future generations of filmmakers, encourage emerging talents to connect with industry professionals, and help young people establish themselves in the early stages of their careers. The biggest challenges currently facing the industry are financing and professional training. We need to build capacity at all levels, for both professionals and beginners. In terms of capacity building, support is crucial. This challenge exists not only in Cote d'Ivoire but in all places where film production takes place. Therefore, we need to focus on capacity building and establishing exchanges."
