STORYLINE:
The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10.
More than 70 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the expo, according to the organizing committee in September.
International exhibitors are gearing up and making preparations for presence at the expo.
At a recent industrial fair in Shanghai, robotics giant ABB brought the "omnicore motion control challenge demonstration unit," a new product that it also plans to showcase at the 7th CIIE.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): MARC SEGURA, President of ABB Robotics
"The Chinese market continues to grow and it is expanding in automotive in the transformation to new energy vehicle. But also new segments in China, like health care, logistics are also growing, so we want to be well positioned with product that feeds the Chinese needs.
We have our great mega factory that we're leveraging on. We have our own R&D team here. On one hand, we continue to leverage a fantastic ecosystem of supply chain in China. And on the other hand, we see opportunities, as I said, on new markets opened up by artificial intelligence. So robots can do things that they could not do before."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): NICOLAS HIERONIMUS, CEO of L'Oréal
"For us, CIIE is a unique event, and it's unique in the world. There is no other event in the world of such magnitude first, but also where L'Oréal is so strongly present, and where we introduce brands, new technologies, innovation, sustainability programs. And of course, we learn from our partners and environment. So once again, I think it will be full of opportunities, hopefully a source of growth for us, lots of collaboration. So I'm very excited about it."
As the world's first national-level import-themed expo, the CIIE last year attracted representatives from 154 countries, regions and international organizations.
More than 3,400 enterprises from 128 countries and regions took part in the business exhibition.
