IDF: Commanding Officer of the Southern Command: "The Southern Command remains at a heightened state of vigilance and readiness for the coming days."

In preparation for the October 7th commemoration events, additional defense personnel have been deployed near the Gaza Strip. This is being done in accordance with the situational assessment and alongside ongoing operational activity in the Gaza Strip.

Following the current assessment, the Southern Command is preparing for both defensive and offensive scenarios over the coming month while ensuring the safe proceeding of memorial ceremonies near the Gaza Strip.

Ahead of the October 7th commemoration events, a detailed combat readiness plan was implemented. The IDF’s Gaza Division has been reinforced with several platoons, with forces stationed to defend both the communities and the border area. The soldiers are fully equipped to defend the region in coordination with local security forces, the Israel Police, and Magen David Adom, ensuring a comprehensive response to any incidents that may arise.

In addition to reinforcing defensive units, three divisions are currently operating within Gaza, continuing their mission to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and degrade Hamas' capabilities until all war objectives are achieved.
