STORYLINE:
The Syrian air defenses responded to an Israeli aerial assault on sites in the country's central province of Homs Sunday night, the state TV reported.
While the report has yet to give more details, eyewitnesses told Xinhua that the attacks targeted areas in Homs' eastern and southern countryside.
One of the missiles fell near the Homs-Salamiyeh road, causing a big explosion.
The attack followed another Israeli aerial assault earlier in the day on the industrial zone of Hasya in Homs' countryside.
