This is the amusing moment a penguin inside in a zoo tank interacted with a visitor.

The woman and her friends saw the Humboldt penguin standing close to the display window and decided to play with it at Khao Kheow Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, on September 20.

Footage shows the holidaymaker sliding her hand back and forth, which the curious bird followed with its eyes.

This encounter prompted onlookers to laugh at what they were seeing.

The zoo visitor said: 'My friend and I travelled to the zoo to see Moo Deng, the famous baby pygmy hippo. After that, we went inside the zoo's aquarium and checked out the penguin area.'

Humboldt penguins are very sociable animals, and communication is known to be important, especially within their colony. They are comfortable with human presence and are rarely frightened by people.
