A heroic restaurant worker has a described the moment he rushed to help after a house explosion leaving one man dead and a scene of destruction.
Staff at Alba Restaurant & Cleremont Hotel in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, say their whole building shock following the blast on Kellie Street last night.
Garry Singh, 27, said he initially thought a car had crashed into the restaurant.
He added: “We ran outside and all we could see was smoke, so myself and another work sprinted across the road to where the explosion was to see what we could do to help - so we started knocking on people’s door and telling them to get out.
“We managed to get everyone out and a couple of minutes later the first responders arrived so we left them to do their job.
“There was one person trapped in the flat next door and they were screaming for help, but there was a lot of flames so we had to take a step back and let the emergency services do their job.
“The firefighters put ladders up straight away at the front and the back of the building and they managed to get the person who was trapped out.
“A few seconds later another gentle emerged from the block - he was all covered in black soot and was laughing. He was taken away in the back of an ambulance.”
