This is the heartwarming moment an abandoned kitten was rescued from a rubbish bin.

Tiya and her boyfriend heard a loud meowing sound coming from the trash can, which led them to find two soaking wet newborn kittens inside it in Sakon Nakhon, Thailand on August 18.

Footage shows the man removing the garbage to retrieve the small bi-coloured feline and gently petting it.

They found two furry creatures inside the bin, but one had already died. The other kitten was brought home and cared for, but it eventually died eight days later due to an infection.

Tiya said: 'We were saddened by what happened to the kitten. We thought we could save him, but he did not survive.'
