A massive landslide plunged onto a road, burying a motorcycle rider and crashing into a shop.

CCTV footage shows the debris of soil and rocks with uprooted trees cascading into the street in Chiang Mai, Thailand on October 3.

It engulfed a motorist who was seen standing up moments later while the rubble reached an empty store on the other side of the road.

No one was seriously hurt while the shop had minor damages from the debris.

Heavy rains have been ravaging northern Thailand in recent weeks. The seasonal downpours have caused severe floods as rivers burst their banks and submerged towns and villages.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon, leading to widespread flash floods.
