Driver ploughs through flooded road causing gate to topple over
An inconsiderate pickup truck driver ploughed through a flooded road - causing a wave that toppled over a neighbour's gate.
The vehicle was passing through a street submerged in ankle-deep deluge which it pushed towards the property in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, on October 1.
Its impact knocked over the metal structure which had a canvas placed on the bottom to keep the water away.
While its owner was careful not to break the DIY barrier by climbing over the fence, the wave slammed on it and knocked it over.
The driver apologised and offered to help but the resident said it was fine.
Heavy rains have been ravaging northern Thailand in recent weeks. The seasonal downpours have caused severe floods as rivers burst their banks and submerged towns and villages.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon, leading to widespread flash floods.
