The Pordenone Fire Department successfully carried out a life-saving operation on Monday, October 7, 2024, rescuing a woman found near the Meduna River after she went missing, in a testament to the efficacy of emergency response coordination.

The search commenced following reports of the woman's disappearance near Via Levade. Swiftly, the local fire brigade mobilized, deploying a range of units including ground search teams, the Local Command Unit, and an on-duty officer, with additional support from the regional canine unit. Critical to the mission was the involvement of "Drago," the helicopter from Venice's Fire Department's Flight Division, which also brought along a team of divers and was supported by drones from the Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige Interregional Directorate.

From above, "Drago" conducted a thorough aerial reconnaissance, soon spotting the woman by the river. The helicopter landed promptly, and the divers rushed to her aid. Despite being in hypothermic conditions, she was alert during her rescue. The divers administered immediate medical attention before airlifting her to safety, ensuring her swift transfer to medical professionals.
